As the U.S. Congress prepares to thoroughly examine the use of crypto mining energy, Thursday’s list of witnesses to the hearing includes more proponents of blockchain technology than its outspoken critics.

The House of Representatives’ Energy and Trade Oversight Committee announced a hearing on “Cleaning Cryptocurrency: The Energy Impacts of the Blocks” last week, with the event scheduled for Thursday. The focus of the discussion will be on the energy and environmental impacts of cryptocurrency mining, especially when it comes to networks that use a proof-of-work or PoW consensus mechanism.
